WIP F1 Brocedes snippet

Listen. I had ZERO intention of ever writing F1 fanfics/anything really. But this got stuck in my head, somehow, so *waves vaguely at snippet* hope you’ll enjoy?

"We need you to infiltrate formula 1."

Nico heard the words but for a long while they didn't register. It felt as if he was in a daze. Formula 1? That was where his next mission would be? That couldn't be real.

"We know of your history in kart racing and racing in formula 3 and GP2, so you know your way around the cars and the racing world. That makes you the perfect candidate for this mission," Mr Smith explained, though it was information he was intimately aware off.

It had been his dream since he was younger. Racing in formula 1, becoming a world champion. But just as he started winning in GP2, his dad pulled him out of the racing world and into the spy business. While he was good at his job, and sure even enjoyed it. He still resented his father for it. They had a deal. If he could make it, if he kept winning, he was allowed to keep racing. And yet one loss, one, was enough for him to be pulled out. His dream over.

Just like that. And now that dream was presented right in front of him.

It scared him.

It almost seemed too good to be true.

"How did you have this infiltration in mind?" he couldn't help but wonder. Sure, he knew how to drive a car, but if they decided to make him a mechanic he was screwed. He bit the inside of his cheeks to keep his face neutral, not let his inner turmoil show.

"We partnered with Mercedes. Together we acquired Brawn GP. As a great PR stunt Mercedes has decided they wanted two German drivers representing their team. You will be one of them," Mr Smith stated calmly. Either completely unaware or more likely, ignoring the storm he just threw Nico's way. As if he didn't just calmly explain that his dream would come true. That he could drive again. And not just drive again, no race, at the highest level there was. Of course, it was just part of the job and there were other things he needed to focus on. But this. This was... Nico needed to go home and pinch himself to make sure it was real.

Marcus entered Indycar with low confidence after a rough time in Formula One, working hard to build himself back up mentally and physically. A relatively private person, outside of racing he enjoys hockey, which he played until he was 16, having dreams of being a NHL goalie before deciding on racing. He also likes cycling and mountain biking. He was married in April 2023, right around the Grand Prix of Long Beach. He is friendly with fans and fellow drivers and enjoys Swedish pop-punk and techno music.

Since I am an angst fan, my stories tend to be sad, but some of the other brilliant writers who write in this AU write fluffy stories, and I have been known to write some sweet things sometimes.
